Demi Lovato has been written out of her Disney comedy show until she fully recovers from her rehab stint.
Show bosses have confirmed that a planned third series of Sonny With A Chance will initially focus on fictional show-within-a-show So Random while the 18-year-old is treated for "emotional and physical" issues.
"This allows her the time she needs to get well, without distraction or pressure," a Disney Channel spokesperson explained to Variety. "Again, we extend our ongoing support to Demi and her family as she works to overcome personal issues."
The representative added that scripts are currently being rewritten to bring supporting characters to the forefront, thereby allowing the programme to begin shooting in January as scheduled.
Lovato has thusfar failed to elaborate on the reasoning behind her admission to rehab, resulting in speculation of problems with drug and alcohol abuse.
